Day 10

As you may or may not know, I have a passion for integrative medicine, and especially as it pertains to women's health. I truly believe that healthcare providers as too focused on treating symptoms rather than finding the root causes of illness, mainly because there simply isn't time in the conventional medical model. I feel so blessed to be learning a holistic way to treat my patients, but it seems the more I learn, the less I feel like I know. I spent today shadowing an amazing nurse practitioner who works a great deal with bioindentical hormone therapy, thyroid disorders, and adrenal deficiency. I'm so excited to be learning all this, but I'm overwhelmed by all the information.

I got up around 6:30 this morning and got the coffee going. I packed Chad a bunch of snacks for the day and made breakfast before scrambling to get dressed. In my haste I left the house without packing any food for myself. Luckily I had a Larabar in my bag so I noshed on that around 11am and didn't get home from the clinic until after 3. I was starving by that point to so grabbed a whole bad of frozen cauliflower that I'd defrosted in the fridge, and threw it in a skillet with the chicken from last night. Once it was warm I topped the mixture with broccoli slaw mix and chowed down. Then, almost reflexively, I had a tbsp of cashew butter and some plantain chips.

I headed to CrossFit at 5:30 (just barely enough time to digest that huge meal). For our strength exercise we did deadlifts 5 sets of 3 reps. I ended up doing 165lbs. The WOD was

1 min thrusters
1 min pullups
1 min rest
X3
It was more challenging than I'd anticipated. Then we did box jumps 30 secs on, 30 rest X 5 sets.

I was thrilled when Chad called and asked me to meet him at Burger Up for dinner. I ordered a bison burger topped with lettuce, tomato, pickled beets, onions, and a fried egg, with sweet potato fries on the side. I REALLY wanted a glass of wine but I resisted (go me!). Instead I had a cup of coffee when I got home, hey I'm not perfect!
