Good morning! I am so pumped to get started with this challenge and get to feeling awesome again. Here's the goal: Stick to the Paleo diet for 30 days!
Objectives:
1. eliminate processed crap from my diet while increasing protein intake
2. test out the Paleo lifestyle and see how it makes me feel and perform athletically
3. loose the excess weight gained since October 5th (my wedding day)
4. attend Crossfit no less than 4 times a week
5. sleep no less than 7 hrs/night preferably 8
*I have always dreamed about having great Abs so my 3 month goal is to get a six pack. That used to seem impossible, but I really think its doable.
Current stats:
weight: 148
now this is always a tricky one for me because I've been working on not obsessing about the scale for a long time. I think it is much more effective to focus on inches. However, on my wedding day I was 140 lbs and I felt great. I think my weight is probably closer to 146 but I'm using 148 because thats what it was this morning when I stepped on the scale.
Waist 1 in above BB: 27 1/4
Biceps: L-10 3/4 R-10 34
Hips: 37
Thighs: L-22 R-22
Chest: 37 1/4
I like to check stats about every 2 weeks because that's just about enough time for one's body to adjust to a new diet. So next measurement will be 1/23.
I started the morning off with a tbsp of almond butter and some water, and then headed to crossfit. Today we worked on Russian kettle bell swings and did a lot of stretching and mobility, which I needed. Then we got started on our WOD, which was:
"Fran"
21-15-9
Thrusters RX 65lbs
pull-ups
I was able to complete all the the thrusters with 65lbs and used a blue band for the pull-ups. I completed the the WOD in 8:12 and am exhausted!
By the time I got into my car I was ready to get home and get my grub on. Breakfast is my most favorite meal so I usually eat something pretty substantial. Since I generally prefer sweet to savory in the morning, I went with a coconut breakfast cake topped with a tbsp of almond butter, 1/2 cup fresh blueberries, and chia seeds. I also had two junction city all-natural chicken sausages and made myself a latte with coconut milk. Now I realize that many people do not approve of coffee if you are a true paleo follower, however, I'm a newbie and I'm not yet willing to give up my morning joe. Though I don't eat much dairy, I really enjoy half and half in my coffee, so transitioning to coconut milk has been a big step. I also use stevia to sweeten my coffee, but this is the only time I use it. I will say that I'd like to cut down my coffee intake to no more than one cup/day (I usually have 2).
Today is a big day for me in many ways, and I'm so ready to take it on. I know its Wednesday but it feels like the start of a new week in our house, since we just got back to town. Remember, take time to write down your goals, whatever they may be. I wish everyone a happy and healthy day!
that breakfast looks so amazingly yummy!!
